Social Media
We recognize that media can be filled with good and evil. Not all social media is bad… many of you may use it for education, maintaining relationships where it might not otherwise be possible, and many other uplifting and beneficial uses. We also cannot deny that a lot of social media is filled with lies, negative mindsets, harsh words, impure images and more. Let’s pray for more of the first, and less of the latter.
God, we pray that social media platforms would be another place to glorify you. We pray for posts that point people to Jesus would have more traction and influence than those that don’t. Continue to raise up people that would speak truth in love, just like you did. Lord, we pray that YOU would trend across Facebook, Instagram, TicToc and the others. We ask for your kingdom to be made known through these platforms to people who might not come to know you in a church.
And lastly, we pray for those who are finding their self worth and identity in a digital culture, based on the number of likes, follows, double-taps, or trends. God I pray that you would break the addictions of scrolling and the hopelessness of finding value or fulfillment from things that will never satisfy. We know social media can become a trap of vanity, comparison, and sense of worthlessness. We pray for young women to discover who you say they are, and young men would come to know your heart. Lord, we pray that this stronghold would be broken over this generation and into future generations. Let your truth be the loudest voice among all the others in our media.
