Music

God, we pray over the influence of music in our lives. For those with children, we pray for discernment on how to help their kids choose music that honors you. We pray that it would not become an area of contempt, or conflict in homes or relationships. Unify families in their choice of music that draws them closer to you. We pray that you would get ahold of more creators in the music industry and that their music would glorify your name. Increase the influence of those who are already using their gifts and talents to honor you. We pray there would be more musicians that can bridge the gap between secular music and christian music— that your truths would be played across the airwaves on even non-religious radio stations and playlists.

If you are listening to music that is detrimental to your faith and struggle to honor God in this area of media you are consuming, we encourage you to pray this prayer and take your first steps to surrendering this area today. God, I recognize that what I am listening to doesn’t lead my heart, mind, and thoughts in ways that honor you. Help me to choose music that brings my attention and thoughts to focus on you, giving you praise, and glorifying you. Today I choose to surrender this area of my life and ask that you would give me conviction to continually make a better decision when I choose the music I listen to.
